IRONMAN SA 2018 training starts 10 January…

November 29, 2017

IRONMAN is one hell of a gruelling day, but its said the race is the easy part! The build up to the event is actually the hardest part!

So how do you train for the 3.8km swim, 180km bike and a FULL marathon 42.2kms? Our training officially starts on Wed 10th Jan 2018. If you have missed the orinetation in November, then join us on Wednesday 10th January 2018 at the Green Point Cricket Club to hear about how we put all the training together in prep for the mammoth race, as well as a chat about nutrition for endurance sport.

Embark has been gathering medals for over 5 years, training athletes to get to that finish line in their bests possible form. You can train with the various groups across Western Cape and follow the proven program that has achieved a stack of finishers medals over the years. If you require a more personalised approach to suit your routine, then get in touch, and set up a time to meet the personalised coach and set your program.

Although IRONMAN is an individual sport, being able to train with others really does make it easier. Our group training programs consist of long supported rides and runs, open water swims and track sessions, taking the guess work out of the preparation.

All programs are presented through Training Peaks, and you will always have your program 2 weeks ahead to plan your life. You will receive a wall calendar outlining the programs progression, the big weeks, the rest days, and races leading up to the race.
Over the weeks and months you will learn EVERYTHING you need to know about being 100% confident going into the race. And because we have many coaches with Embark we will always be able to help you. Being able to train and ‘suffer’ with other athletes make all the difference on the long training sessions, so come and join our social and fun training group.

If you aiming at the IRONMAN 70.3 East London then the program takes this into account, and after that race, you continue towards IMSA. Those not doing the 70.3, will build up in the same way and just do a ‘mock’ ultra-distance race on that weekend.
