On track and on route to Half Ironman 70.3…

As we hit the middle of November, our half ironman athletes are well over half way through their training. We are now riding 100kms, and running half marathons and yes, swimming sea miles! We have completed a sprint triathlon and a standard distance triathlon, and in 3 weeks time we take on the JailBreak tri in mid December. Our training is not just distance based, we work each week on speed and race specific techniques too. Last week we did our 5kms run time trail, and their were some AMAZING results and improvements.

The athletes that are putting in the hard yards are now reaping the rewards of their efforts. The last 3 weeks have been a tough few, so this week coming up is a rest week. Once that week is over, we have just 2 more big blocks of training, and then its RACE TIME!!

If you missed the boat this year for the half ironman training, then make sure you book early next year for the group. We will continue to run the program on the Atlantic Seaboard, Northern Suburbs, Blouberg, Somerset West and JHB.  We are also starting the Beginners Triathlon Program ‘Your first triathlon’, mid Jan, along with the group training for the 2 Oceans Half Marathon. If thats too easy, then the Ironman group training starts at the end of the Jan. So there is lots to put onto your ‘to-do’ list for next year, and lots of ideas for new years resolutions!
