Beginners complete their goal triathlon…

It was a truly amazing weekend as the beginner triathletes completed their first triathlon at the WTS Cape Town triathlon. Its was staged at the V&A Waterfront, right in the heart of the Cape Town. The beginners have been training since January, and on Sunday they finally had the chance to put the practice into a race situation. You can imagine the nerves as they got ready to face the 500m cold water swim in the harbour. 60 athletes going off in each wave through out the morning. Once the swim was done it was a 20km ride around Mouille Point and Sea Point, making a turn past the athletics and soccer stadium. After the ride, it was a 5km lap of the promenade going past the Mouille Point lighthouse.

Its a great finish line, as its the blue carpet for the final 100m. And what a amazing sight seeing the Embark triathletes crossing the line and getting that first triathlon medal!! Lots and lots of smiles and high fives.

The beginners will now continue to training in preparation for the 70.3 Half Ironman group that starts on 1 August. This group training will take place in Atlantic Seaboard, Northern Suburbs, Blouberg and Somerset West. Good news is that we will be offering the training in Johannesburg too!

Currently there is a group training for the Knysna half and full marathon, and on 1 June we begin with the popular Winter Miles cycling program. To find out more about this click the Group Training tabs, or contact us via the contact page.
