Aqua jogging in rest week for Embark half ironman athletes…

After 3 progressive weeks of training and racing, we are finally in week 4 and rest week. There are just 48 days to go until the 70.3 half ironman, and the Embark athletes all did the JailBreak Triathlon on Friday last week. It was a 1100m swim, 44km bike and 12km run, so pretty much half the distance of the 70.3. Its a good sign for how the athletes are getting on.

But after the hard yards, we need to take a break. We have ridden over 100kms each weekend and running up to 2h, our open water swims are over 2kms too, so the athletes are definitely well on their way to that coveted medal.  Last night we met at the tidal pool and did 40mins of aqua jogging. Its a great way to do non impact running. Being in a wet suit gives you the right buoyancy, so we just run in the water and feel the burn! It was quite a lot of fun, and for those injured, it was great to join the other Embark athletes and join them on a run!
