Towards the end of last year, Helen Zille took up the challenge to take part in the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour 2012. The Premiere of the Western Cape will be riding the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour as part of a 24-member team led by Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula to promote the message of anti-doping, and that anyone can take part in a challenging sport if they put in the effort. Zille will be training with triathlon coach STeve Attwell who runs the lifestyle coaching company; Embark.
Zille will be 61 years old a few days before the Cycle Tour and she hasn’t done a lot of riding in her life. She knows its a big challenge but is very ready to take this on. She has a mountain bike to do the race on, and will train with STeve as much as possible to get as fit as possible for the race day. Keep an eye on this website to see how she progresses. You can also follow the training on twitter @atlanticsteve . GO HELEN!
